DOMINION DAIRY SHOW.
A HEX CONVENTION . J Tin; entries in poultry during the throe years the show has been 11 existence i have varied very little—22s in 1910, 229 ' in 1911, and 227 in 1912. There is now no doubt about tlie convention of 1913 ' surpassing in numbers ami quality all previous gathering, and some of ,the best, birds in the Dominion may be looked E for in the pens. That the poultry divist ion is a popular one is proved by the 1 large number of special prizes that are t scheduled, no less than 03 having being 2 contributed. In Hawera and surrounding districts there are breeders who have done remarkably well in the past, but there are indications that they will have a difficult task set them this year to . maintain the position hitherto occupied ) by them. The cup presented by the Dominion Dairy Show for most points in this section was won by Mr. ,T. Walker, ( of Auckland, last) year. .Should the same winner be again successful this year, the trophy will disappear as a _ prize competition. In connection with the breeding trio class, it may be mentioned that the competition will be bef tween a "cock and two females," :iot a "cock and two hens," as it appears in ' the schedule. To the uninitiated there * may not appear to he any difference; but the poultry breeder may realise what r the alteration means. Entries close on 7 Saturday (June 14). Schedules and cn- * Ifonns may he obtained on applica- * tion to the secretary, Mr. A. M. Conrov, L Box 174, TTa wera. ' '
