THE MARCONI DEAL.

CAPTAIN MURRAY'S EVIDENCE. AN INTERIM REPORT. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. London, June 10. It is noteworthy that the Marconi shares for which Lord Murray paid upwards of 60s are now down to under Iss. Captain Murray, brother of Lord Murray, in evidence/ stated that his brother, before leaving England, handed him 3000 Marconi shares, which had ■been purchased for the Liberal Party. Lord Murray had proposed to retain the shares until all'the, Marconi business had been cleared up, so that nobody but himself should be involved. Lord Murray had similarly informed his legal adviser, but did not inform his colleagues. • Witness said he believed Lord Murray's transaction, if indiscreet, was perfectly free from dishonor. He thouarht that if the transaction were disclosed it would be used to make political capital at the expense of the Liberal party. In reply to a question, he stated that he thought it quite probable that nothing would have been heard of the Liberal Party's purchase if the Fenner incident had not occurred, but was unable to Ray whether Fenner's indebtedness was due to the Liberal Party or to Lord Murray personally. The committee is considering whether it will issue an interim report.
