The hall-was charmingly decorated with flowers, while the walls were banked with ferns and mirrors. The - floral' decorations on the supper table were masses of violets and white flowers, and were most' effective;' Tlie music was in the capable h&iids of Mrs: Woods. Mrs. Gilbert received' her guests in a black chiffon taffeta gown-, 1 trimmed with jet and beaded passementerie; Miss Gilbert, dainty -cream satineharmeuse, with tunic of ninon, finished with pale pink roses; Miss V. Gilbert, cream, satin eharmeuse, prettily beaded; Mrs. Burrell (Hawera), black chiffon, taffeta, with black spangled net tunic; Miss Burrell, white chiffon taffeta, trimmed with' a hand-painted floral design; Miss Harrop, cieam silk, with pretty over-tunic; Miss Leitch, cream satin robe; Miss Elliott, pretty white satin, with beaded ninon tunic; Miss I. Elliott, rose-pink robe, with satin trimmings; Mrs. Asher, pale blue taffeta, cream lace on corsage; Miss D. Gilbert, pale pink silk, with tunic of pale blue ninon; Misses Spurdle (2), pale pink eharmeuse; Mrs. Preece, pale pink eharmeuse, veiled in ninon; Mrs. Leslie Webster; Miss Liddel (Wanganui), pretty cream frock; Miss Stone (Hawera), pale blue, finished with Oriental embroideries; Miss G. Gilbert, cream ; silk; Miss K. Bennett, pink satin, with ;an overdress of ninon'; Miss B. Oliver, dove-grey eharmeuse; Miss Loveridge, cream silk; Miss Flaville, pale amber, trimmed with spangled ninon; Miss E. Flaville, cream satin, veiled in ninon; Miss I. Hooker, white satin, with tunic of cerise ninon; Miss M. Snowball, cream silk; Miss Giddy, pretty rose-pink velvet, corsage finished with beaded trimming; Miss V. Howson, dainty cream eharmeuse, with ninon tunic; Miss Mclsaac, white muslin, with satin bands; Miss M. Morrison, cream silk; Miss V. Joll, cream silk, with handsome lace berthe; Miss H. Brokenshire.
Bridge.—Mrs. D. Hutchen entertained a number of her friends at bridge last Saturday, which resulted in Mrs. Ryder winning first prize and Miss Marshall second. Amongst those present were: Mrs. Hutchen, cream and saxe blue striped silk, piped with vieux-rose silk; Mrs. Hoby, black merveilleux silk, finished with lace and jet trimming; Miss Tidy, cream silk; Mrs. H. Ward, pretty saxeblue velvet; Miss Marshall, black silk, cream lace berthe; Miss Bedford, pale amethyst-colored silk; Mrs. Simpson, black taffeta; Mrs. Meldrum, cream silk; Mrs. Lysons, black silk; Mrs. Ryder, cream taffeta, with folded ninon corsage; Mrs. Eberlet, pale blue taffeta, trimmed with cream lace and ball fringe; Mrs. S. Teed, shot peacock-blue silk, relieved with cream lace.
PERSONAL ITEMS. Miss Devore, of Auckland, is the guest of her sister, Mrs. R. George. Mr. and Mrs. M. Fraser left yesterday morning by the mail train, also Mr. Clement Govett, for Wellington, en route for London, travelling by the Athenic, which sails to-morrow (Thursday). Miss G. Kyngdon, who has been visiting her relatives in the .South for several months, returned to New Plymouth last Thursday.
