There was a hostile demonstration against the winner, who ran nowhere in the Ellesmcre Stakes on Saturday.
Second Steeplechase Handicap.—Hawtapu (Now Zealand), 1 ; v A£ut{! Angle, 2; Kororite, 3. Four started. Won' by fifteen lengths. Time, 7min. lOsec. Melbourne, June 9.
The Birthday Handicap resulted:— Safra'no, 1; Magas, 2; Durdans, 3. Ten started. Won by a neck, with a length between second and third. Time, 2min. 38'/ a sec. Adelaide,; June, 9.;
The Alderman Cup resulted:—Aurifer 1, Wassail 2, Radiator 3. Seven started.

Mr. Siever is prosecuting Percy Bono, a solicitor, and Thomas Dent, a bookmaker, for> circulating a typewritten sheet alleging that Siever blackmailed Dent for £IOOO in connection with an advertisement in the Winning Post, and that he was committed for trial and bailed out.
CRAGANOUR SOLD. London, June 8. Mr. C. Bower Ismay has sold Craganour to the Argentine Government, on condition that he is not raced again. The price obtained for Craganour was £30,000. i
