Cotton, 6.40 d. Hemp—The market is inactive and has a downward tendency. Jute—May-June shipment £29 ss. Rubber, 3s 8 l / 2 d. Copra—Moderate supply and fair business doing; South Sea bags £2B Ills. Tin plates—l4s fid to los Gd. Fencing wire, 1555. Angle steel, 132s 6d. The wheat afloat for the United Kingdom is 3,825,000 bushels, for the Continent 3,235,000 bushels; the Atlantic shipments amount to 002,000 bushels and the Pacific nil. The total shipments to Europe were 1,700,000 bushels, including Australasia 115,000 bushels. HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT.
Wellington, Monday. Following is the High Commissioner's cable under date London, June /. (Note: Quotation's, unless otherwise specified, are average market prices on the spot) : Mutton —The market remains firm, witn a good demand for all qualities. Canterbury, 4y 2 d; light weight is in small supply and is as high as 4%d; North Island, 4Vid.
I Lamb;— The market opened weak, but to-day is firmer. There is a prospect of improvement. Prices declined except for light weights, for which there is a good demand. Canterbury 6y 2 d, heavy weight 5%d, other than Canterbury 5%d to Oy a d, according to weight. Beef—The market is weak on account of large arrivals of New Zealand. Hinds 3%, fores 3%d. Supplies of American chilled beef are large, but prices are firmer for fores, Hinds 4d, fores 3 l-10d. Butter—There is no alteration in the market since last <week. The Tainui butters are not discharged. Choicest New Zealand lias, Danish 115s, Australian 1069, Argentine 102s, Siberian 101s. Cheese—The market is slightly weaker "ith less demand. The Tainui's cheese s now being discharged, and apparently has not been affected by the accident. New Zealand white 60s 6d, colored 58s 6d. Hemp—The market continues dull and small business is doing. Prices 'are weak in the New Zealand market. New Zealand good, fair £29, fair £2fi' for any positions. The stock at present is 670 tons. Manilla: Prices have declined owing to "bear" operations, but good business has been done at reduced prices. Fair current Manila £3O to £3l for any position, The output from Manila for the week amounted to 16,000 bales.
Kauri gum—The market is firm, with an improved demand. Nothing wa9 offered at Thursday's sale. The stock on ■May 31 was 203 tons. Dark brown, selected and re-scraped, £7 to £8; dark brown three-quarter scraped, 95s to 105s; three-quarter scraped chips, drossy, 40s to 50s; re-scraped pale amber, 12s to 14s; three-quarter pale scraped, 9s to 10s; diggers' chips, good, 70s to 80s. Oats—The market is dull and very little business is doing, and prices have slightly advanced for all grades. New Zealand oats (Danish), ex granary, per quarter of 32011), 21s 6d.
Peas—The market is quiet but firm at last quotations; New Zealand peas (partridge), per 5041b, 425. Wool —Tlie market remains firm. Client—The market is nominally unchanged. The New Zealand supply is practically exhausted. Beans The market is Ann, with a small supply. \c W Zealand beans, f.a.q. (old crop), 50411), 425.
