A Maori named Pararete Atiliira was killed yesterday near Te Kuiti. While felling trees for firewood a limb fell and struck him. ; .

DEATH FROM HEMORRHAGE.

Auckland, Monday.

John Clarke, aged 64, residing with his family in Ireland street, was found dead in bed this morning. He had apparently died from hemorrhage. The kapok mattress under him was on fire and burning slowly, and Clarke had apparently in his dying moments upset the candle by his bedside.

SUICIDE OF AN OLD SETTLER.

Invercargill, Monday.

Thomas Sands, an old settler at Winton, a married man, was found hanging in a stable this morning. Deceased lost heavily through the recent floods, and had since been despondent.

A FIREMAN INJURED. Greymouth, Lasit Night. A fireman named Samuel Hunt fell down the companion-way of the Tutanekai, and broke seven ribs.
