EMPIRE PICTURE PALACE. The big double star programme including "The Stolen Symphony," and "Death "or Glory," will be shown for the occasion at the Euapire to-night. The change of programme to be screened torjnprifow night will feature another big Nordisk picture "Dr. Gar-el-Hamar," a sequel to the great Nordisk detective drama shown at the Empire last year, entitled "Thje Dead Man's Child." "Dr. Gar-el-Hamar" is the limit in thrilling and exciting dramatic stories. It includes over one hundred scenes of Oriental grandeur, and so rapid and realistic, are the episodes that the spectator is. f;anght and whirled away into a region of intense excitement and enthrall: ing interest.
THEATRE, ROYAL PICTURES. A very brilliant and well varied programme wa9 presented to a good attendance of first nighters at the Theatre Royal last night. The boat race between Oxford and Cambridge crews provided a very interesting picture, and the "Gaumont Graphic" was also responsible for some of the latest world events. As good wine needs no bush, picture patrons will need no telling that the Edison and Vitagraph films, featuring Marv l'uller and Florence Turner respectively, are real first-class studies. Then comes the big colored "star," "The Weaker Vessel." a mighty dramatic masterpiece of intense human interest, descriptive of Parisian life and interspersed with magnificent mountain scenery. A thrilling scene introduced into this great film-story is a Spanish bull fight, exciting and thrilling to a degree, although somewhat barbarous to English amusement seekers. There are scveraldelightfnlh- funny comedies, the best being a Tannhouser film "Brains v. Brawn." Tim programme will be shown for the second occasion to-nisht.
