The Dominion Meteorologist issuett ' tie following weather, summary and forecast at 5 p.m.: —Summary: Strong " uul squally westerly winds hare prevailed, with cold and showery weather. Generally the barometer has been yery unsteady. Forecast: Present indications ■ tare* for variable and strong winds generally, increasing northerlies and changing ;to easterly, northward of East Caps and Kawhia, and westerly winds, changing - fcy south, to high south-easterlies elsewhere. Cold and stormy weather may be expected, With rain generally, •and snow on the higher levels. The ' barometer will probably fall further, in ike north, but is likely to rise in the •oath and everywhere after about twenty-four hours.
