A HOT LEAGUE GAME.

There was warm and bright weather for the League football match. The New South Wales team was as cabled. In the New Zealand team Chadbolt re- I placed Byrne. New South Wales excelled in passingand combination, and the New Zealand-1 ers excelled in footwork during tlje rushes. Both teams tackled very safely The first score was from a passing rush among the New South Wales threequarters, Devereux forcing his way over. Then Deane scored cleverly at the corner. New Zealand's first score was a penalty goal by Ifwerson. Shortly afterwards' Walters and W. Mitchell made an opening, from which Chad'bolt made a long run along the line and scored. Ifwerson shortly afterwards kicked a fine penalty goal, giving New Zealand a point lead. New South Wales, playing with much' dash, crossed the line twice, Bro'omham and Norman scoring. The last | try was converted. At half time the j score stood New South Wales .... 14 I New Zealand 7 In the second spell, Manning and Kelly scored cleverly, and Ifwerson converting the latter's try which gave New Zealand a lead 1 of fifteen to fourteen. The last twenty minutes was very fast with even play. Frawley crossed for New South Wales just on time, and the match ended New South Wales 17 New Zealand 15 Wellington, Last Night. Under League rules New town beat Athletic by 20 to 7. AUCKLAND MATCHES.
