We held our monthly wool, skin and hide sale on Tuesday, 3rd inst., and as this sale marked the opening of our new store, a large number of buyers from Auckland, Wellington, Wangunui, Patea and Waitara were present. Mr. A. Christensen, in a few well-chosen words, proposed the toast of the new venture, which was well honoured. The bidding was very spirited and high prices were obtained; in fact, a record for. Taranaki. Prices were as follows:

Wool.—Crossbred, lambs, B%d; dead, 6y 4 d-, pieces, 4%d. Sheepskins.—We catalogued a fair lot some of which were well cured, and heavy woolled, and for which there was very keen competition, nice lines making 10s 6d; good, fls 3d, (is Id, 5s 9d, 5s 7d, 5s sd, 5s Id, .is; medium woolled 4s (Id, 4s 3d, 4s 2d, 4s, 3s 9d; .short woolled, 3s 9d, 3s <Sd, 3s 4d, 3s 2d, 3s Id, 3s, 2s 9d, 2s Bd, 2s (Id; pelty sorts 2s 2d 2s Id; green skins 5s Id; lambs salted 2s 8d; pelts from Is 9d down to Is.

Tallow.—Rendered and good 2os per cwt.

Cowhides.—Good, 7%d per lb; medium, 7d per lb; yearling, 7y 8 d per lb. Calfskins, good,9d per lb. ' During* the week we have disposed of a fair amount of stock privately at rather better figures than previously quoted:—F.m. ewes 8s to lis; lambs, 8s 9d to 10s 3d; 2-tooth wethers, 13s (id to 13s 9d; weaners, mixed, 27s 6d to 35s for nice well-grown Shorthorn cattle. Shorthorn weah'er steers, 30s to 37s fld. In calf heifers showing Jersey-Holstein cross, 97s Gd to 112s 6d.

WEBSTER, DOBSON & CO.'S REPORT. At Strathmore on Monday we held our monthly sale. Owing to the exceptionally rough day,- only two pens of f.nj. ewes were yarded, these gelline at 8s 3d. < ' b

At Stratford on Tuesday, owing to the holiday, we met but a small yarding. Competition was, however, keen, neany every pen being sold at the hammer. We quote: Store cows £2 9a to £3 lis, fat and forward cows £3 14s to £5, mixed weaners £1 5s to £2, bulls £4 to £4 18s, dairy heifers £4 13s to £6 12s.

On Wednesday we held a clearing sale on account of Mr. Wm. Bayiy, disposing of the whole of his pedigree and grade Jersey stock. There was a very large attendance, Jersey breeders from all over Taranaki being present. We report a most successful sale, competition being keen from start to finish. Kirkwood, IGgns; Wairere Silver Speck, Mr. E. Griffiths, 18gns. Grade cows from £5 10s to £6 16s, weaners £3 12s (id. Sundries sold at ruling rates. Private sales as follows:—Two and a half-year steers £4 12s 6d, 2-tooth wethers 13s 9d to 14s 3d, 2-tooth ewes 15s 6d, fat cows £6 10s to £6 15s, fat ewes 15s, calves £1 10s to £2, lambs 9s to 10s Gd.
