IMPUTATION OF FRAUD,

Under sharp cross-examination, Mr. .Chesterton said he had not imputed fraud against Mr. Godfrey Isaacs or Mr. Samuel.

Mr. Lockwood, a mining engineer, gave evidence that he had practised his .profession in both Australia and New Zealand. Mr. Godfrey Isaacs had wished him to give a certificate that the general ore in the Clogwell mine was worth l'i pennyweights, when it only yielded five. ( He declared that Mr. Godfrey Isaacs, held shares in the St. David's ,mine under the name of Briggs.

THE MASTER OF ELIBANK,

In order to explain the purchase of three thousand shares, some of which are entered in Fenner's books as Elibank's trust account, several newspapers insist that the Master of Elihank, who is abroad, should give evidence.

LOCKWOOD'S EVIDENCE.

London, June C.

Lockwood, cross-examined as to the story of his threat to shoot Mr. Isaacs, said'it was absurd. He declared that he knocked Mr. Isaacs down when he vinsulted him .for declining to sign the false certificate. Cross-examined, lie admitted that he did not inform the directors of these matters, and admitted dining subsequently with Mr. Isaacs. The Postmaster-General gave evidence denying that he or his family had ,ever invested in Marconi shares.

The Spectator, noting Salaman's evidence as a trustee in the estate of Tenner, the bankrupt stockbroker, says that the comments arising in the public mind regarding this purely accidental discovery _of another Ministerial transaction are inevitably very disturbing. Men are asking if the Fenner bankruptcy has brought a new fact to light, and what other facts may be concealed by accidents workinrj for obscurity and not foi' light. The Times says that among the Liberals anger is rising at the revelation of the Master of Elibank's further transactions in American Marconi shares. There is some anxiety as to what is the trust fund mentioned by Mr. Salaman.
