The Committee of the South Canterbury Jockey Club voted the secretary, Mr. C. S. Fraser, a bonus of 20 guinea? as a mark of appreciation of his services during the last ten years. Ex-Sergeant-Major James Livingston, who served in the Maori war. was presented with a New Zealand war medal at Hawera on Saturday afternoon, in the presence of a large gathering of veterans.
The teachers of th" Timaru district on Saturday made a presentation to Mr. J. A. Yalantine, as a recognition of his services as . secretary of the District Educational Institute, a position which he has resigned on bein? unpointed secthe Education Board.
