CYCLING.

CIRCULAR ROAD RACE. Mr. J. Bennett presided over a fair attendance at the meeting of the executive committee of the circular road race, which was held in the Town Hall last night. The prize list for the road race as drawn up by l Messrs. A. George and E. Whittle was apprdved as follows:—lst, Britannia Tyre Challenge Cup, valued at £SO, also 50 guineas, and gold medal, valued at £5; 2nd, £ls and £ls 15s bicycve; 3rd, £lO and £ls -15s bicycle; 4th, £5 cash and £ls 15s bicycle; sth, £1 Is cash and £ls 15s bicycle; 6th, £ls 15s bicycle; 7th, £2 2s and set of tyres valued £3; Bth,. £2 2s and set of tyres valued £2 10s; 9th, £2 2s; 10th, £1 Is; fastest time, £2O cash and gold medal valued at £5 os; fastest time (Taranaki rider) silver cup valued at-£5 6s, presented by Messrs George and Johnston, of Waitara (to be won twice in succession or three times at intervals). This cup was erroneously credited last meeting to Messrs. Brown Bros., of Birmingham.

The prizes show a considerable inI crease on last year. I It was also decided to hold' three moj tor cycle races in the afternoon, on the I Racecourse; viz., 5 mile novice, open to Taranaki riders only; 5 mile open handicap, and 10 mile handicap, open. Splendid prizes have been awarded for the motor cycle races for the 10 mile race. The first prize is £lO (cash) and the second a pair of motor cycle covers. For each of the other races, the first prize will be a set of motor cycle tyres, valued at £7 10s, and the second a pair of motor cycle tubes, valued at £1 10s. The question ■of holding hunting events on the day of the sports was left to be decided by a meeting of the general committee. Mr. J. Bennett'offered to again donate a cup for competition in the hunting events if decided upon. The offer was accepted with hearty thanks. Messrs. Williams and Davey were, appointed to wait on the Hunt Club and ask if they were prepared to put on anv hunting events.

A general committee meeting will be held in the Town Hall on June fcO.
