Woods attended a meeting oi the Southland Rugby Union Management Committee and reported that he had appeared before a meeting of the New Zealand Rugby Union on Saturday, wheu he had laid before the ruling body the cases of a number of players whose names he handed in as having been-wrongly suspended for taking part, in Northern Union League games. He .pointed out that the men referred to had not travelled, and said that the Southland Rugby Union were of the opinion that they had wrongly reported these players. Mr. .Woods said that he had received a sympathetic hearing, and a definite promise had been given him that a further meeting would be called to look into the matter, provided the Southland Rugby Union would show, that the facts were as stated. Mr. Woods then moved the following motion, which was carried unanimously:—"That this Union considers that the players in question were wrongly suspended by this body, as they; had not travelled or signed the League declaration." The matter was left in the hands w- a special committee, with power to aet. ' REPRESENTATIVE FIXTURES. RESULTS. June 3, v. Wanganui, at Wanganui.— Won by 26 points to 5. Of the 26 points scored by Taranaki at Wanganui on Tuesday, no fewer than 23 fell to members of the Tukapa Club, who were evidently in a happy scoring mood. The tally was made up of five tries" by. Loveridge and one by Cade, whilst J. gtohr converted one try and gpaled from a mark. .... Tjiranaki's other three points : consisted of a try i)y" Taylor (Kaponga).' The Saturday w&>hSs hive been very interesting of lata, the games have been very close, and some good open play has been shown. There is no doubt that Saturday football is improving, and the two matches on the Recreation Ground on Saturday next should be well worth watching, and should draw a big crowd, as there will be a large i:>.f!i;:v of visitors in town on th.; occasion of the Shy\\\ At the conclusion of the first roun.l. for Stratford. The forwards are a fast, solid lot, though some aro a bit light, and several of them hava earned representative honors previously. Carey, of Okato, is tried lock, whilst Sullivan, of Stratford, is anothe* ■•» naa. Michoils, of Inglewood, Li alio given * trial. The selectors were generally of opinion that McAllum was the bes» man in the North for the position, but his qualifications are well known. He has proved himself almost equal to Taylor. Nichoils comes from Inglewood with a big reputation, and will be given an opportunity of proving his calibre against the rep. winger. The Stratford-Clifton match was a strenuous one, and at times appeared to develop roughness. Clifton expected to win', arid when Stratford only played 13 men in the first spell, it looked as though their expectations would be realised. They secured the wind first spell, But though their played well, their back division failed to rise to the occasion, and in the seond spell Stratford, reinforced by two fresh men, had no difficulty in gaining the victory, though even then Clifton missed chances. Crowley played a great game at half, and one would like to see him given a chance for representative honors before the season is over. He tackles gamely, and goes down to the rushes well, but shows a tendency to work, the blind side too much. Kupe was off color. He certainly scored a try on his own, but his style of play does not encourage his three-quarters.

Dobson at- full-back for Stratford in the first spell was safe, and at fiveeights in the second spell he played really well. Don Cameron put in some good work, but towards the end condition, told. Tocker.waS' the best back on the Stratford side, whilst Dewar and Sullivan shone in the forwards. Les. Hill, Taranaki representative full-back of two years ago, has again donned the jersey, playing for Hawera. Last week he scored and converted the try which gave Hawera the victory over Okaiawa.

Waimate has a clear lead of three points over any other team in the Southern Division.
