Hall—The animal Fire Brigade 'Ball eventuated in tue Theatre ICoyal last Tuesday evening, which was and always lias been mainly a juvenile allair, and a, fancy dress one' at that, so the excitement amongst the children during the past two or three weeks has been intense; but- to the mothers, a nervostraiuing worry, only backed up with a grim reward, uttered witli Heartfelt thankfulness- that it only conies once a year. As a description of the decorations and the prize-winners has already been given, I shall just give a list of the children in their fancy dresses. Dance.—Last week the members of the Park Tennis Club held a very enjoyable dance in the Brougnam Street Hall, which was charmingly decorated with ferns and flowers for the occasion. Music was supplied by Mrs. A. George's orchestra. The engagement is announced of Miss norice B. Mills, eldest daughter of Mr. C. T. Mills, to Mr. Wilfred L. Wagstaff, of Tongaponitu, third son of the late Mr. William WagstaiT, of Opunake.
