THE LYTTELTON CASES. A MILITARY EXPLANATION. Per Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. Touching the remarks made in the Lyttelton Court on Wednesday by Mr. |I. W. Bishop, S.M., as to the failure of responsible officers to attend prosecutions under the Defence Act, Captain Kelsall, aiea group officer, told a reporter that the cases in point were misadventures. The police in all previous prosecutions had notified the defence authorities of the dates of the prosecutions, and the necessary officers had been there. In these cases the police had not done so, and he believed that the blame rested entirely with them.
