ENTERTAINMENTS.
HAMILTON-PLIMMER COMPANY. During their New Zealand toui\ which commences at Invereargill on June 18th, the Hamilton-Plimmer management will present in all four plays. "A Woman of Impulse," a powerfully-written drama of the Sardoic type will be the main drawing card; and, as occasion and the length of each season will permit, those delightful comedv dramas "Dr. Wake's Patient/' "The Second Mrs: Tanqueray," and "A Messagt from Mars," wiir be staged with all the adequatenm that has recently made for them such successes in Sydney and Melbourne. EMPIRE PICTURE PALACE. Another grand double star programme will be shown at the matinee this afternoon and again to-night. The first part star is a powerfully portrayed Lubin drama "The Stolen Symphony," a thrilling play, beautifully set, that features Arthur Johnson and the full dramatic talent of the Lubin Company. The second part feature is a story of the Great Napoleon, "Death or Glory." A powerful series of war pictures dealing with love and adventure. Well acted throughout,, a clean story, produced with absolute fidelity to the period in the shape of' dresses, accoutrements, and scenery, thiß subject ranks amongst the best of the Cines Company's achievements. The supporting items are all first class. THEATRE ROYAL PICTURES. The chief item of interest on the new programme shown at the Theatre Royal last night was a splendidly colored re 3 dramatic masterpiece, "The' Forger." The drama is strongly cast and concerns the life of Darville, who is engaged to Jeanne, the daugther of the wealthy Mr. Richard. Darville is a gambler.' and after heavy Josses at the ginning table,, borrows from a money lender on the conditions that he shall 'pay back twice the amount on his marriage. Being hard pressed Darville forges his prospective father-in-law's name to a cheque. It is soon discovered, and the hank cashier starts out in pursuit of the forger. He is chased in a motor car and takes refuge in an empty flat where he shoots himself. The pursuers enter, but only to find the dead body of the man they* are seeking Amongst the other exceptioniillv good pictures is a British production of "Rally in Our Alley." The same programme "will be repeated again tonight for the last time.
