THE LATE CAPTAIN SCOTT.
To the Editor. Sir, —The sad death of this hero after attaining his object in the Antarctic has led to a desire on the part of his native town of Devonport, Devon, England, to erect a memorial to his honor and memory, and which it is thought probable his widow, Lady Scott, may be asked to execute, to be placed in a public building in his native town. lam sure there are many Devonporters and Devonians in many parts of the world and of the British Empire who would like to contribute, however modestly, their share towards the accomplishment of the proposed memorial. Will other papers please copy this appeal, for Devonians are everywhere, and have been since the days of Drake and Raleigh, and .will Devonians everywhere pass on the appeal? lam sure Edward Blackall, esq., the Mayor of Devonport, will be delight-, ed and cheered if the response to this appeal is warm, as it might readily be expected to be. Donations should go direct.—l am, etc., CHAS. R. ROWE. 1 Agaton Road, St. Budeaux, Devonport, April 23, 1913.
