A SHIPBUILDING STRIKE. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. London, June 4. As the result of the shipbuilding workers' ballot 12,215 votes were received in favor of a strike, and 4348 in favor of a postponement.
THE DARWIN TROUBLE. Port Darwin, June 5. The Darwin strike has been called off. Of the hundred men now ready for work many will find difficulty in securing readmissioh to the Government departments.
LABOR IN AUSTRALIA. FERRY STRIKERS FINED. , Received 5. f1.45 p.m. Sydney, June 5. At the Industrial Court over seventy of the Manly Ferry Company's employees were fined for participating in (.he late strikes. The leaders were fined £lO, the fiemen and deck bands £7 to CS each, and the wharf hoys C2 each. Justice Heydon. in lining the ferry bunds, said that be was tired of' imposing small penalties. The events of the past few months bad convinced him that the Industrial Court miH. not be considered as something to be laughed at. People breaking (lie law must pay.
