THE AUSTRALIANS IN AMERICA.
A REDOUBTABLE PAIR,
Received 4, 11.45 p.m. New York, June 3,
Doust and Rice, in the doubles, completely smothered Wrenn and Lamed, both of whom are national champions, the Americans' only score being taken in the first set, 6—l. The Australians smashed spiritedly ■in the rallies, and won three games decisively.. Experts are of opinion that the Americans will •have a hard task to defeat the Australians in the Davis Cup doubles. James appeared on the courts showing the results of illness, and it is doubtful if he will be able to play.
