AMERICAN POLITICS.
THE PANAMA CANAL. THE TARIFF. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 4, 9.45 p.m. Washington, June 3.
In the House of Representatives, Senator Steenerson introduced a Bill enabling foreign vessels to participate in the American coastwise trade through the Panama Canal. President Wilson has declared in lavor of free meat, cattle, sheep, hogs, wheat and oats. As Dr. Wilson swung the House of Representatives to agree to free Wool and sugar, it is considered likely that he will be able to influence the Senate similarly.
The Senate Committee has declared in favor of importing free meat.
