ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
FOUND DROWNED.

Ashburton, Last Night.
Tke old man found drowned yesterday afternoo.'i has been identified as Edward Jones, aged about 82 years. He was a stranger to Ashburton, and was staying at a boarding-house, where he 'arrived from Christcliurch on May 23. On Sunday morning he left the boarding-house for a walk, but did not return. He had a savings bank account of £IOO. . The police are trying to ascertain if he had any relatives in the Dominion.
| KILLED BY A TRAIN. I Dunedin, Last Night. I Maurice Flahine, a resident of Milton, I was fatally injured at Wingatui this J evening. He had just left the racecourse . siding, and had proceeded to walk towards Mosgiel on the main line, when the second express from Dunedin to Invercargill came behind him. He failed • ,to take notice of warning whistles, and : I was struck by the train and instantane--1 ously killed.
