The Wellington correspondent ot the Auckland Star says:—An important amalgamation of commercial interests, which will affect 'firms-in all the pjrinci* . pal centres is jußt being ajjd a company, probably a private one, will be registered within the next week or two. Its headquarters are io be in Wellington, but one of the concerps to come in has its, head office at Dunedin, with numerous big branches carrying a produce business, stock and station' agency, and the sale of every fAnting requisite: An old-established Weliiiyfton wholesale grocery and wine and Spirit business is also in the amalgamation, and Mr. James Mackintosh, formerly general manager of the Bank of tfmr !
