TARANAKI (N.Z.) OIL WELLS, LTD.
The progress of the erection of the Taranaki (New Zealand) Oil Wells Company's refinery at Moturoa has suffi'•ii'utly advanced to allow of the stills being fired, and this was done yesterday morning, the operation, which marks such an important step in the development of the oil industry, being performed by the chairman of the local board of directors, Mr. C. Carter. The undergroundconnection from the stills to the big chimney stack worked most satisfactorily, but it is anticipated that at least a fortnight will be required to thoroughly dry the brickwork before the actual refining can commence. All that now remains to be done is to put the tinning plant, etc., in place, the. whole of the building operations being finished.
