LAND BALLOT

AT TAUMARANUI.

Over 10,000 acres of Crown land in the Mapara, Tangitu, and Aria districts were offered by ballot at Taumaranui on May 30th. One hundred and seventyeight persons applied lor 33 sections, and nine sections were not applied for. Fortysix applicants were rejected, for various reasons oil an examination being made, and 130 persons were approved, of as applicants, 101 of whom were entitled, to preference, either on account of being landless, and having competed unsuccessfully on previous occasions, or having children dependant on them. The successful applicants for Mapara district sections were:—

In the Tangitu District the first-class land on the freehold tenure was disposed of'as follows:

Section 3, Mock 3, 481 acres.—D. J. O'Leary. Section 7, block 8, 450 acres.—T. J. Brennan. The national endowment lands in Tangitu District went as follows: Section 3, block 5, 224 acres.—V. W. Ireland.
