PERSIAN GULF QUESTION.
ANGLO-TURKISH ARRANGEMENT. GERMAN DESIGNS FEARED. London, May 14. Ilakki Pasha has been in negotiation with the Foreign Office to adjust mutual interests in the Bagdad railway and Persian Gulf. Turkey undertakes not to try to undermine Great Britain's position, while Great Britain consents to an increase in Turkish Customs duties. The net result of the negotiations brings the Gulf section of the railway practically under British control. The appearance of a strong squadron of vessels belonging to (he Triple alliance in the neighborhood of Aloxundrettii has caused considerable anxiety among the Turks, who suspect naval designs on the Levant.
