GODFREY ISAACS' CONFESSIONS. SOME DISCREDITABLE WORK. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 1, 5.5 p.m. London, May 31. To-day's hearing of the case in which Godfrey Isaacs proceeds against Cecil Chesterton for criminal'Jibel, was occupied with taking the evidence of Godfrey Isaac? .in regard to his connection with the public companies winch Chesterton had described in strong language. Crossexamined, he admitted that the connection'was discreditable. He did not hold shares in the Transvaal Limited Company, but retired from the board of directors after the issue of the prospectus. He was on the board of another South African company, the Geluk Limited. He admitted his connection with a number of automobile and Welsh mining companies which were unsuccessful, but denied that he had made money by promoting them or manipulating the market.
Godfrey Isaacs was shadply cross-ex-amined regarding his earlier experiences in the city. He admitted that he had been associated with a number of companies which were failures, including the Australasian Motor-car Company. He denied that he could be described as a discredited syndicate adventurer.
