ants. Wanganui fight gatherings are always enjoyable, and the winter gathering gave everybody their money's worth and a good lump over. In view of the death of Luther Mc 4 Carthy in the fight with Pelkey at Burns' Calgary Stadium on the 24th inst., and the news that Tommy Burns was assisting in Pelkey's training, details of Burns' recent contest with his new protege should provide interesting reading. The Calgary Morning Albertan of April 3 says:—Tommy Burns, last night satisfied himself and pugilistic followers in general that he was far from being, through as a boxer, when he got the better of a six-round no-decision affair with Art Pelkey, the conqueror of Jesse Willard, in the Burns Arena, before the largest crowd that has ever witnessed a boxing bout in the city of Calgary. Had the battle lasted 10 or ,12 rounds there is no doubt but that Burns would have caused Pelkey a great deal of distress, if not knocking him out. Tommy 'did .practically all the real leading, and chased his giant opponent about the ring. Pelkey kept jabbing with his left, but showed no inclination to mix. In the second round Burns swung a heavy left to Pelkey's jaw, which sent the big fellow to the mat for the count of seven. It was a terrific, punch, and dazed Pelkey. It looked as though Burns would follow up and finish him, but he failed to do so, and Pelkey regained his poifce before the gong sounded. In the fourth Pelkey got set, and put his weight behind the left which he used as a feeler throughout. In the fifth Tommy took advantage of the wide opening which Pelkey left, and crossed him with a right to the jaw, which floored him for the count of three.' Ke no more than got up when Burns fol-" lowed up with a similar blow, which sent I elkey to his knees.
