WAITARA HARBOR BOARD.

CONCERNING AN APPOINTMENT. ,At d recent meeting of the Waitara Harbor Board a protest was made by a number of members of the Board who objected to Mr Wm, T. Jennings continuing to act on the Board, on the ground that his appointment as a member of the Waitara Harbour Board was invalid and illegal. It is stated that the protest was in due course forwarded to the Minister for Marine (the Hon. F. M. B. Fisher), and that the master has been referred to the Crown Law Department, and a decision given to the effect that Mr. Jennings' appointment was quite illegal and quite invalid, and that the Minister for Marine has called upon him to resign from the Board, intimating that unless he does so proceedings will have to be taken to remove him from office. When the report (says the Dominion) was referred _ to the Hon. F. M. B. Fisher, he said that he was not in a position to make a statement on the subject at present, but that ' there would probably be a vacancy, on the Waitara Harbour Board before very long. Mr. Jennings wis appointed as a member of the Waitara Harbor Board by the Ward Administration in 1911,
