Archbishop Clarke, of Melbourne, says a London cablegram, is recovering slowly. Mr. James Bryce, late British Ambassador, in the United States,.; has reached Tokio. Mr. William D. Fulton, a Maori war veteran, died at Port Huriri on Tuesday, at the age of sixty-six. Mr. J. Brown, chairman of the Taranaki Chamber of Commerce, is laid up with an injured leg, caused through a small splinter entering his limb whilst using a sledge hammer. Mr. Fred Pirani, chairman of the Wanganui Education Board was presented at the meeting by his confreres on the Board with a purse of sovereigns to recoup him the expenses he incurred over his conduct of the Stagpoole case.
