AMERICAN PRISON SCANDAL

CONDITIONS AT SING SING. Sydney Sun Special. London, May 13. Some astounding disclosures have been made as the result of an investigation into the management of the New York State prison at Sing Sing. The report that has just been published declares that the conditions prevailing in the prison are frightful. The cells are not only dark and damp, but are infested with vermin.

It is asserted that the cruelty with which prisoners are treated is such as to throw into the shade the stories of mediaeval torture.

The report further states that the morals of the convicts are of such a character that they are not fit for public discussion.
