A ROUGH TRIP. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Monday. The Maheno has arrived from Sydney. She was delayed 36 hours by the stormy weather. Mrs. Cleal, a passenger for Auckland, died on the voyage from heart disease. A SERIOUS CHARGE. Auckland, Monday. Jessie Armstrong, aged 48 years, the wife of a laborer, was charged in the Police Court with having performed an illegal operation on a young woman who is reported to have recovered. WATER IN BUTTER. Wanganui, Monday. Two local dairy companies were fined £1 and £2 respectively, together with heavy cotss, for preparing to export butter containing more than lfi per cent, of water. The Magistrate, in imposing small fines, said they were only isolated offences, and he was convinced the companies did not -make a practice of watering their butter.
