DEATH FROM APOPLEXY. By Telegraph—Press Association. Martin, Saturday. Richard Nicolls, aged about 24 years, died suddenly in bed early this morning, apparently irom apoplexy. llis parents reside at Feilding. A DROWNING FATALITY. Dimedin, Saturday. Robert Patrick Ifarker was drowned near Tapanui in a shallow creek while returning to his home Irom a stile at Heriot. SUICIDE IN WELLINGTON. Wellington. Saturday. Alexander Thomson, who is also 'believed to lmve gone under the name of Thrunmi, shot himself in Boulcott street this morning . PTe left the boarj-ing-house where he had been living, and a few moments afterwards discharged a bullet from a six-chambered revolver into his side, close to the heart. He died a quarter of an hour after admission to the hospital. lie was a bricklayer by trade, about 35 years of age, and came from San Francisco about five months ago. He had been under medical treatment lately, BODY IDENTIFIED. Auckland, Saturday. The body found in the horbour yesterday has been identified as that" of James Butler, a waiter and barman. He has been suffering from a cold, but apparently was not depressed, for a friend did not think he was the sort of man to commit suicide. The jury returned a verdict of "Found drowned!" A CAB-DRIVER KILLED. Nelson, Last Night. A horse attached to a cab was frightened by a passing motor car in Bridge street yesterday afternoon, and shied. The vehicle capsized and the cabman, Martin Christian, aged about 18 years, received injuries from which he* succumbed last night. A CHILD DROWNED. Christchurch, Last Night. Josephine Robina Root, two years of age, whose parents reside' in Spreydon, was found drowned in a hole on Saturday afternoon. At the inquest to-day before Mr. T. A. B. Bailey, coroner, evidence showed that some days ago a hole was dug in the garden for the reception of rubbish, and became full of water as the result of the heavy rains experienced. About a quarter to three o'clock on Saturday afternoon, the little one was missed from the house, and on search being made she was found in the hole. Medical assistance was sent, for, but the child was dead. A verdict of accidentally drowned was returned. A PARALYTIC STROKE. An elderly man named Thomas Martin, who lately arrived here from Wellington, and who was in business as an expressman, died suddenly on Saturday, as the result of a paralytic stroke, at his home at Moturoa. No inquest will be necessary. A BICYCLE ACCIDENT. On Saturday afternoon a bov named &rnol:lt was the victim of a painful accident through colliding, while bicycling. [ with Mr. Lambie's (Manaia) motor-car Mr. Lambie was driving the car himself, and when at the corner of Eliot street [ and-Devon street, the cyclist rail info 'ie back of the car and was thrown from his bicycle, sustaining a eimp'e fracture of the left leg. He was attended to by Dr. Suttie and removed to the hospitai. This ia the second time within three months that Arnoldt Ims had his left leg broken.
