We held our usAal sale of the above on the (ith iiist., and submitted our usual catalogue to good competition. Buyers were particularly keen and the catalogue was -disposed of in record time. Ox hides realised prices similar to last month, cows, however, showed a drop 1 of y 4 d for heavy and %d for light and medium, extra heavy held about the same as last month. Dry skins sold well at a sharp advance on last month's rates, difference being ..particularly noticeable in heavy wooliies. Salted advanced in sympathy with dry. We offered little wool, but what was catalogued sold well at a slight advance on last month's rates. Cask tallow realised last month's high rates. Prices were as follows:—Hens, fat, Is 9d to 2s 3d; ordinary, Is 4d to Is 8d; pullets, 3s to | 4s fid; cockerels, Is 4d to 2s 7d; roost-| ers. Is (id to 2s (id; chickens, 5d to KM; | ducks were in good demand, prices rang- j ing from Is 8d to 2s 2d; turkey hens, 3s . fid. I Fruit.—All lines offering at present ( are selling readily at good prices, the jj market showing a tendency to liarden. Apples are coming forward in good supply. We quote: —Apples, bushels dessert, (is fid to 8s; half, cases, 3s 3d to 4s; cookers, Gs to 7s 3d; half cases, 3s to 3s fid; pears, bushels, 8s: half cases, 3s 3d to 4s; cookers, 2s Gd to 3s Gd; grapes, 8d to Is per lb; bananas, ripe, 2d per lb; oranges, 10s to 12s per case. Furniture.—During the week we have held clearing sales of furniture on account of Mr. E. G. Skelton and Mrs. Von' Lubbe.
