Cawthorn Observatory will not be made until the arrival from England of the .scientist whom Sir Robert Ball, di< ' rector of the Cambridge University, has ' been invited to nominate. It is contemplated that the Bag- , lish scientist will supervise the erection "' and equipment of the observatory, and afterwards act as director. Miss Proctor, who has been staying at Nelson, after the conclusion of her lecturing tour, ' had several conferences with Mr. Cawthorn, and inspected the available sites for the observatory. She is fully con-, viced that Nelson is an eminently suitable locality for such an institution. Miss Proctor leaves Wellington on Friday for Sydney. It is her intention to deliver a series of lectures in Queensland, at the request of the Chancellor of Brisbane University, in order to adro- " cate the establishment there of a Chair of Astronomy. She will later on pay * ' visit to Egvpt. Miss Proctor intends to return to New Zealand, to be present at the opening of the Cawthora Observe-'
