The Rugby Union has granted the University permission to invite the New Zealand Universities to send a football team to Sydney. The match will probably take place on July 5. THE, AUSTRALIA* TEAM'S VISIT. By; Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. At a meeting of the management committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union, a request was received from Auckland to change the date of the Auckland] match against the Australian team on Wednesday, August 27, to the following Saturday, owing to Saturday half-holi-day being in force. The committee decided that no change could i>e made. Mr. W. Parata asked,the committee to arrange the match for 1 August 27 between, the Australians and the Bay of Plenty team at Rotorua, but it was decided not to entertain the sugges-i tion, as the programme could not be altered. | TO-DAY'S MATCHES. I The games set down for this afternoon in the cup competitions, together with the referees appointed are as follows: Seniors: Tukapa v. Eltham, at Eltham, Mr. W. Roch; Stratford v. Clifton, at Waitara, Mr. D. George; Tukapa v. Eltham, at New Plymouth, Mr. B. Petty. Second juniors.—High School v. . Technical. College'/ 3 p.m., Mr. A. Gray; Stratford v .Eltham, 1.30 p.m., Mr. J. H. Thompson. The following; will play for Star First j Juniors.-—Harvey, Gleesoh, Gomer, Gush, James (2), Plumb, Lovell, Clark, Johnstone, McGahey, Gunson, Gray,; Hardgreayes, Page and Mason, The! team will leave by the 12.50 train. The following team will represent Tukapa seniors against Eltham:—Stohr,! Bullot, Jull, Whitaker (2), MeAllum, Harvey, Davidson,, Ward, Steele, Brown, Cade, Loveridge, Morstieadi and. Smith. The team will travel by the 12.50 train: The following will represent Tukapa ; First Juniors in their match against Eljtham Juniors at Western Park this afternoon commencing at 1.45 p.m.: Okey, Morey, Nelson, Wai Opai, West, Patterson, McKoy, Lister, Loveridge, Smith, Masters, Carlson, Jones, Spence, and Grady. Thursday football In Inglewood is likely to be a dead letter this season, Our representative was informed by a member of the club yesterday that no teams would be entered in the Thursday competition at all. It had been hoped that In«lewood would be able to put in Thursday teams for the Junior competition, but even this has fallen through owing to the lack of town players. A team will, however, be available on Saturdays, as this team will be able to draw from the country players. The Oknto team to play Inglewood at Inglewood next Saturday will be as follows:—Corbett, O'Sullivan (2), Carey, White, Xgaia, Hawkins, R. Andrews, Burrows, Malone, Turner, Larsen, K. Andrews, Eustace and Surgenor.
