Aviatrix and Serenity be-1 ing the only withdrawals. Of the six I starters, Sampan and Ngatimaru came' m lor spirited support. The field moved ' off in fjood order with the Hxception of Sir Tulloch, who was slow to find his 1 feet. Jackpin immediately sail.d to j the front and flew the flist hurdle a couple of lengths in front of Sampan, Brown Star, Timothy, Ngs-timaru, and l Sir Tulloch being the order of the others. Passing the stand the order was unchanged, but along the back the field crept up a little on the leader.
Four furlongs from home, Brown Star cried enough, and very kindly pulled out for Timothy. Befoni reaching the straight, Jackpin began to leave the favorite, the latter was being hard ridden. Just before turning for home, Timothy passed his stable mate, Sampan, on the rails, and Ngatimaru came fast. Nothing had a chance with the leader, who scored, very easily by nearly two lengths from Tin-othy, Ngatimaru was a fair third,, and Sampan, Brown Star and Sir Tulloch, followed in straggling order. Time, 2 min. 5,1 sec. Rector Girl dropped, out of the Tawhiti Handicap, leaving six runners. Boronia and Grattan. were in great demand, but all the runners with the exception of Silva were fairly evenly backed. Tetikura, Grattan, and Katua were first to break the line, but the field had 'not goine far before Grattan was welt in front, followed by Ineuru and a straggling c- owd. Ineuruf headed Grattan before turning for home, and easily holding his own in the run home, won by a couple of lengths from Grattan, Tetikura was a length away, third, and Boronia, Katua and Silva followed. I Time, 1 min. 1H 1-3 sec.
Silver Rose was the only scratching in the Railway Handicap, a good field of thirteen facing the starter. Field Force, on the rails, was quickest to find his feet, followed by Rownet and a bunched crowd. Yankee Doodle ran up to Field Force at the end of a furlong, but before turning for home, Kaniki had run into third place. A great ace home between the three resulted in Kaniki winning by a long neck from Field Force, with the fast-finishing St. Serf close up, third. Then came Yankee Doodle; and the rest were strung out. Time 1 min. 16 1-3 sec.
Sixteen were saddled up for the Ladies' Purse. Mr. O'Connor sent them away to a fair-start, Millbanks making the pace, followed by Glen Tulloch and Royal Patron. Glen Tulloch ran up to Millbanks at the four furlongs post, but Royal Patron challenged at the home turn. Grandee came very fast in the straight and just failed to reach Royal Patron. Glen Tulloch was a fair third, aid Kuropotangi and Darby Paul finlsned next. Time, 1 min. 49" 1-5 sec.
Another big field lined up for the Telegraph Handicap, Silver Rose, on whom Deeley had the mount, being best backed, Zion and the Dodger was first away, but the latter was well clear after going a furlong, the, favorite being chopped out, and knocked back. Lord pin ran into second place before reaching the turn, and a ding-dong race between The Dodger and Lord Lupin resulted in the latter lasting longest and winning by the narrowest of margins. Zion was a length away, third, Ridicule fourth. Runaway Girl fifth, and Succeed last. Time, 1 mln. 4 sec. Kina was the only withdrawal from, the Manaia Handicap, t\\s :'locally-train-ed Ngatiruanui being installed, favorite,! Ed Otahu and Ngatiruanui caused a lot of trouble at the barrier, but eventually the thirteen runners were sent off on fairly even terms. Master Tupuhi led out of the straight from Mon Ami and, Patriotic, with Lady Volga next. At the half-mile post Mon Ami and Master Tupuki were in front. Muleteer improving his position, and Aruake last. Mulejeteer passed the tiring leaders in the 'turn, and Royal Simon and Ngatiruanui came with a great rattle. Ngatiruanui finished with great determination, and beat. Royal Simon by a length. Muleteer was a close third, and Patriotic and Lady Volga were next. Time, 1 min. 45 sec. From a good start, White Crane and Cornelian were the first to show out, but at the turn St. Luap ran through and took charge. Entering the straight St. Luap was well clear of White Crane and kilrain, but Invader then came on the outside with a strong rush, and cutting down the leaders, won comfortably by a length and a half, with White Crane a length away, third, and Clemency fourth. Time, 1 min. 45 3-5 sec. TO-DAY'S ACCEPTANCES. By Telegraph—Press Association. Hawera, Last Night.
