STRATFORD NEWS.
FROM CUE RESIDENT REPORTER,
STRAY PARAGRAPHS Tlio News representative was credibly informed on Saturday that a borrower had had to pay £lO to procure £IOO for a year at 10 per cent, interest! The Domain Board on Friday re-elect-ed Mr. G. N. Curtis chairman, and Mr. («. D. Hunter, secretary. The Borough Council meets to-night for the election of standing committees and general business. There is a coal famine—and a cold coal famine at that—in Stratford just now. There is also a news famine. Mr. J. B. Hine, M.P., informed the News reporter on Saturday that he had always made a practice of giving presessional addresses, and will take the platform before Parliament opens. He thus escapes the general condemnation served out to M.P.'s for having given up this excellent practice. A committee has been set up, consisting of Messrs. R. Masters, J. McMahon and J. J. Staples, to arrange for the reopening of the Egmont Club Debating Society. Who says money is not tight?- Ask any business man about it. Tackle a commercial traveller who has just completed his round of Taranaki. The Presbyterian Church anniversary services were held yesterday. A kit of motor tools, found between Tariki and Rugby roads, is advertised. >
