SCHOONER "ARRESTED."
A .SHIPPING CASE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Gisborne, Last night. Xo little curiosity was occasioned at the wharf yesterday morning, when a bailiff boarded the topsail schooner Amelia Sims, which arrived from Auckland on Friday night, and nailed to the mainmast a writ of arrest in connection with a dispute between the late master, Captain J F. Johnson, of Kaiapoi, and the owner of the vessel, over the sum of fSB 63, claimed by the plaintiff for commissions which he alleged are due to him. The writ was issued at Christchurch. Unloading operations had not commenced when the ship was "arrested," and the cargo, comprising tiles for the new hospital, roof pipes, coal and coke, was included in the "arrest," and could not be touched until a settlement had been arrived at. A couple of hours later the owners entered into a bond, and the solicitors for the parties arranged to release the ship, and work proceeded as usual. The cargo will be discharged and the vessel will leave for Auckland again in due course. It is understood that the dispute will be fought out at Christchurch.
