Poultry.—At the mart on Saturday, our pens were taxed with birds of all classes, good fat hens and forward pullets being in good demand. Prices are as under: —Hens, young, Is 3d to Is 9dj fat, Is Gd to 2s 3d; cockerels, young, Is to Is Cd; fat, 2s Gd to 3s; ducks, Is Gd to 2s Id; drakes, Is M to Is lOd; pullets, young, 2s to 2s Gd; forward, 3s 6d to 4s Gd; clucks, Gd to Bd. The usual line of auction sundries realised satisfactory prices. Fruit.—During the week large quantities have come to hand from Auckland, Nelson and Hawke's Bay. Prices have started to harden and are likely to do so from now on. Prices as under are according to quality of fruit and size of cases:—Bananas, ripe, 2 J /gd lb; green, lis 3d per case; oranges, originals, 7s; repacks 8s 6d; applies, dessert, 5s to 8s; cookers, 5s 9d to Gs; lemons, Messina, 15s to 16s; pears, 5s to 7s Cd; Cape gooseberries, 5s to 5s fid; grapes, lOd to Is Id per lb.
