j BOROUGH VALUATIONS: J The Assessment Court resumed its ] hearing of the objections lodged against the Borough valuations yesterday morning, Mr. A. Crooke, S.M., presiding. The following settlements between the valuer (Mr. C. T. Mills) and Mr. Corkill (representative of the objecting owners) were formally confirmed. I Emma Pearce, £99 to £BS. . J. and T. Mr. Mills applied for an adjournment until 10.30 a.m. on the 23rd inst., on which date, he intimated, it was antici- -- pated that finality would be reached. Tliis was granted, and Mr. J. H. Quilliam then said, in addressing the Court, j that the question'■.of; ,the' ..validity of ' the rate as a whole had/been, raised and an application had'! also, been made on bebalf of objectors for costs. He, Mr. Quilliam, was instructed,'by the Borough. Council ,to;', oppose both applications and asked his Worship if he would give any intimation as to when he would hear argument,', , j In reply, his.
