ENTERTAINMENTS.

THEATRE ROYAL PICTURES. The popular young actress "Saharct" figured prominently in a striking military drama nt the Theatre Royal last evening. It is a theory of military intri- * gue and' shows how an officer schemes to get the plans of the fortification of a neighboring fort. Aided by his sweetheart he is successful, but only after a series of thrilling adventures. The play 19 most lavishly mounted, the ballroom scenes being especially effective. The environment of the story is amidst scenes of gorgeous splendor, and the plot is portrayed by a most capable company of artists. Chief amongst the supporting items was the Vitagraph star, "The Awakening of Bianca," and the Edison drama, "The Affair at Raynor.'s" in which Mary Fuller plays the leading role. The same series will be repeated again to-night, at the matinee to-mor-row, and for the last occasion to-mor-row night. EMPIRE PICTURE PALACE. To-night is the last occasion that the Edison masterpiece. "Foul Play," will he shown in New Plymouth, and as on the two previous nights there should again be a packed house at the Empire. Commencing at the matinee to-morrow the management will introduce another (Treat star film, adapted from Charles Dickens's well-known novel t "Oliver Twist." This picture has been produced" bv the veil-known English makers, Messrs. Hcpworth, and it Tanks as one of the finest kincmatogranh gems ever produced in any ivirt of the world. For this three-reel subject, as the makers have handled It, actually lives before our eyes, and imparts the true Dickens'" snirit more nerfectlv than all the dramatised versions of the great writer's novels ever put upon the stage. Mr. Alfred Boothman will give a characteristic description of the storv whilst the picture is being screened. The management specially notify parents that there, will he no increase in the matinee price*
