ALLEGED PERJURY.

A TRAMWAY CASE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurcb, Last Night. An echo of the recent tram accident, which occurred on April 0, in which a young woman lost her life, was heard at the Magistrate's Court to-day, when the motorman and conductor of the tram-car were charged with having committed perjury at the inquest. Eugene Allan was charged with having, on April 7, at Christchurch, committed perjury in testimony which he gave on oath at the inquest touching the death of Evelyn Edith Coombes, by falsely swearing that when Miss Coombes fell the car was three poles from the stopping place. William Horgan was charged with having similarly committed perjury, by falsely swearing that when he stopped the car he was two poles distant from the stopping place. Accused were committed for trial, reserving their defence.
