THE SEA'S TOLL.

A WHEAT SHIP WRECKED. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. London, May 5. The Queen Margaret, a barque with 41,385 bags of wheat from Sydney for Queenstown for orders, is ashore on the Stag Rocks at the Lizard. She is a total wreck. The crew have landed. LOST ON THE OCEAN. Fremahtle, May 5. The deaths of the captain and first mate left the barque Victor in charge of the second mate, who was ignorant of navigation. The vessel had been beating about in the vague hope of finding land, when it was found that she was in a dangerous position between two reefs. Had the weather not been calm she must have been wrecked. Four men .in the lifeboat left the vessel at nine o'clock next morning, and reached the fishing boat Fleet Wing, at four in the afternoon, and requested their help in order to navigate the vessel safely, Johansen, the skipper of the Fleet Wing, 'boarded the Victor and brought her safely to port. Four of the crew are suffering from African fever, brought about by mosquito bites at Delagoa Bay. They'had plenty of provisions throughout. AN EXAGGERATED REPORT. Received 6, 11.50 p.m. Fremantle, May 6. The first reports of the Victor episode were exaggerated. The captain, first officer and .one seaman only died from 'fever.
