HIGH SCHOOL CONCERT. There was a crowded house at the Theatre Roval last night on the occas- . n of the High School concert, which was held in aid of the school institutions. The first half of the programme was given up to an improvised comedy "Bombastes Furiosothe cast of which was as follows:—"Artaxominus," King of Utopia (Mr. Balham), "Fuslos," Minister of State (Mr. Gosse), "General Bombastes" (Mr. Moyes), "Distaffina" (Mr. S. Dav). It was'in reality an unambit-, ious farce, fashioned on broad lines, with manv local hits, specially fashioned for the audience. The costuming of the courtiers and the "Army" a very heterogenous collection —was grotesque to an extremely laughable de-, prec, and all things considered the piece jras & very mirth-provoking production. The second half of the. programme comprised plantation melodies, interspersed with some clever gymnastic turns by the pupils of the school. The corner men, with their quaint gag 3, kept the audience in a constant state of laughter and the large chorus of niggers and the like, presented some curious studies in fashions. Mr. Balham, as Uncle Remus, was the central figure in the show. The gymnastic turns—all of which were exceedingly well performed—the dusky aritists showed to best effect in the ladder pyramid and in the tumbling acts. The whole spoke much for the tuition of Mr. W. lints, instructor to the school. The organisers of the concert desire to thank the accompanist (Mrs. Moyes),_ Mrs. Kirkby, and Messrs. MacDiarmid, E. Baylev. Haslam. Hutton, Bradbury, Collier, Renaud, Lints, Brooiks, and Meen.
