A Southern exchange records thnt Mr. S. P. Evans was entertained at Christchurch on Saturday to celebrate his promotion from workshops manager, Aldington. to the responsible position of locomotive engineer in Wellington. Mr. Evans was presented by the staff at Addington with a solid silver ten service, a bridge box, a smokers' outfit, also a handsome hand-bag for Mrs. Evans. Mr. Evans is a brother of thfr Ven. Archdeacon Evans, of New Plymonth.
