SCHOOL COMMITTEES.

DURHAM. (From Our Own Correspondents). A fairly large number of householders roiled up to elect a new school committee on Monday evening lust. Mr. J. Bridgeman was voted to the chair. The secretary read a report of the year's work and the balance-sheet, which was adopted nem con. A deputation of parents from Upper Norfolk road asked assistance of the Durham householders in getting the school boundaries altered so as to include them in the Durham district, and pointed out that the Durham school was the nearest for their children, but the parents were not enabled to vote or take any part because of their being in the district of a school that was unsuitable for their children to attend. They also asked for help in repairing the present foot-bridge over the Maketawa river. Nominations for members of the committee resulted in nine toeing the mark, the following being elected— Messrs J. B. Simpson, J. Rickard, J. Corney, A. Dodunski, J. Bilewski, Bridgeman and Mehrtons. Mr. F. A. Bridgeman was later on elected chairman and Mr. Simpson secretary. Votes of thanks were passed to the retiring chairman (Mr. F. Hodges). The objects, etc., of the Moa School Committees' Association were explained by Delegates Hodges and Simpson, and the householders passed the following motion:—"That this meeting of householders heartily approve of the objects of the Moa School Committees' Association, and wish to thank that body for what it has in the past done in the interest of,the smaller committees." The visit of the •battleship was discussed ana the opinion expressed that the<move enabling parents a.nd children to travel to the port on the night previous to the visit was one in the right direction, and it was hoped the concession would be made by the Railway Department. Various other interesting topics were touched on, and one of the most interesting meetings of householders held in this district concluded somewhere about 10.45 p.m.

CARRINGTON. The balance-sheet shewed a credit of £7 10s 3d. Messrs. Binnie (chairman), Beauchamp, Petch and Gilbert, and Mrs. Gilbert were elected for the ensuing year. . UPPER URUTI. At Upper Uruti the committee's annual balance-sheet was considered most satisfactory. Mr. C. Barnitt was reelected chairman and secretary, with Messrs. Murray, Guscott, Alpe, and Old making up the committee. ' TARURUTANGI. '""-T-liera were' nine hpusehphiers .present at Tarurutangi when Messrs. F. Bishop (chairman), G. M. Longstaff (secretary), J. F. Giddy, A. Street, E. Marsh, R. Street and Nitz were elected. OAKURA. Messrs. W. K. Morris (chairman), J. Healy, H. Gordon, P. C. Mace, P. H. Mace, G. A. Adlam, and Gowers, were elected.

MANGAHUME. Messrs. W. F. Coombridge (chairman i and secretary), J. Warner, C. Warner, L, Eustace, and J. Cox were elected, Mr. 0.- Warner operating the banking account with the chairman. DENBIGH. An attendance of seventeen householders was recorded at Denbigh 1 Road, and Messrs. W. T. Mills (re-elected chairman), W. Walker, A. Mills, H. Hitckstep, aiid D. Townsend were appointed at Awatuna. RADNOR. Messrs. A. Keightley (re-elected chairman and secretary), John Vickers, George Crowe, F. G. Taylor, and E. Hopkins were duly declared elected. PUNIHO. Messrs. A. W. Wells (chairman), J. A. Thomas (secretary and treasurer). W. Grant, M. Hill, W. Bell, P. Tangalme and V. Gable were elected at Puniho. DUDLEY ROAD. Messrs, Henry Codd (chairman), J. B.eeton (secretary), J, .Hqdges, D. l'.'4'.nr. J. Coble, J. Williamson and C. Broadmore were elected. watti/i. Messrs. R. T. Williams (chairman), M. Sattler (secretary), S. Fagan, C. Schrielier, W. P. Bishop, H. Blackburn and C. Shnttleworth were elected at Waitui. KORITO. Messrs. J. Houlahan (chairman), Allen, Olson', Keast and Witliarris," and Mesdames Ansford and Williams were elected. WAIHI. Waihi: H. Piirdie (chairman), W. Cole, J. Davidson, G. Marsh, W. Harrjs, J. Obender, C. Gray (secretary). HILLSBOROUGH.

At the Householders meeting on Monday night there was not a large attendance. Mr. J. R. Hill was voted to the chair. In moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, the chairman referred to the credit balance as being greater than previous years, but this was largely due to concerts organised to provide funds f6r prizes and picnic. He also thanked the' parents who at all times came along to forward any movement for the welfareof the district. The following were elected as a committee: —Messrs. 11. C. Kanipson', T. IV. Marsh. If. C. Marr (hon. secretary), J. R. Hill (chairman). Messrs., JT. H. E. Marsh and T."Hawirings -will be asked to take office as members, in order to fill the remaining vacancies. HUT! FORD. There was a lair attendance. The balance-sheet showed <» credit of £1 10s 3d, this being considered very satisfactory. Messrs.'
