The steamship Rimu arrived on Sunday from Wanganui and discharged a fair amount of cargo. She left again the same day for Onehunga. The Territorials arrived back on Sunday from their annual encampment They seemed to have thoroughly enjoyed themselves. A parly of six had a rough experience at Oaomii last week. Three whites and three natives went out fishing. Whilst they were on the briny ..the sea got rr.ther rough, so much so that they were unable to get ashore that night. They had to remain outside in a small boat all night, and some not having their coats with them, experienced a. rongb time, as well as a narrow escape of not getting ashore at all. Mr! •!. Mr. Cook, an old and popular resident of Oaonui, is leaving next week on a trip to the Old Country. Tt is about 34 years since Mr. Cook left England's shores to take up farming in New Zca land. During this period things have changed considerably, and although Mr. Cook has only one brother alive at Home, thev will no doubt be delighted to meet each other. Mr. Cook, who is a model Englisb farmer, has done vcrwell in Mew Zealand. He had very hard times to contend with in the early days, but bis steady application and per severance have pulled him through. Mr. Cook carries witli him the best -wishes of all for a pleasant trip, and safe return. The Loan and Mercantile Companv held then- usual fortnightly stock sale here. There was a good yarding, and (he prices were satisfactory throughout.
