A QUID PRO QUO.
"HE WHO LAUGHS LAST," ETC. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Sydney, April 27. Mr. Hughes, Attorney-General., referring to the Argus incident, said it was a really, good joke, but the Argus must not think it had the monopoly of jocular, matters of this kind. Mr. Ihighcs added: "To show how I appreciate a genuine joke and recognise the responsibilities of my ofiice, I shall take steps to put the Act into operation against the Argus, for on the same day, in the same issue, publishing an unsigned article commenting on electoral matter. On the whole my joke seems better than its own."
