(From Our Own Correspondent)
A very successful euchre party and dance, both from a social and financial standpoint, eventuated here on the 23rd inst. Ten tables were occupied for play, and for nearly two hours' excitement was at high tide. The prize-win-ners were declared when nine games had been played. Mrs. Shaw, with seven games, was awarded a pair of silvermounted vases. A pair of hair-brushes, in a leather case, went to Mr. H. Collins, with seven games. The unfortunate boobies were presented with a box of matches and a penny packet respectively. It is presumed that the proud recipient of the matches would have no excuse for being unable to insert his latchkey that night. About twenty couple took part in the dance that followed.
The Cricket Club is now in the unusual position of having a surplus.
